A young Bray squad were no match for their experienced Leinster Senior League opponents as they exited the Leinster Senior Cup.

St Pats always looked threatening going forward, they marked close giving the Seagulls little time on the ball, and they passed crisply when they had possession.

The wily Alan Murphy and the lively Gary O'Connor in particular gave Bray's defence all sorts of trouble throughout, and the opening goal had been threatening for a while before Murphy intercepted and rounded Shane O'Connor to go one on one with Brian Kane, slotting coolly home under the diving keeper.

Prior to that, the visitors had had six corners to the hosts' one, and only on those occasions did they look like testing Pats' Philip O'Connor.

Despite what must have been a vigorous half-time pep-talk from Gary Zambra, it took St Pats only five minutes of the second period to double their advantage, an O'Connor free near the right sideline reaching Dean Young, who rose highest in the area to head past Kane.

And seven minutes later, Andy Doolan pounced on a loose partial clearance to fire from 25m straight to the back of the Bray net.

Both sides had further chances to score, but the fire had gone out of the tie by then.
