Bray Wanderers 3-3 St Patrick's Athletic

BRAY WANDERERS 3  ST PATRICKS ATHLETIC 3

Bray managed to salvage a point they had appeared in danger of losing to the in-form St Patricks Athletic, who are still unbeaten all season.

It was a match that was more evenly balanced than the first-half corner tally of 6-0 to the visitors would indicate.

Nevertheless, when the Seagulls went ahead shortly after the half hour, it was somewhat against the run of play.

John Mulroy passed to Kieran "Marty" Waters on the left, who sprinted up the wing and broke clear despite the attentions of Ger O'Brien to cross into the area, where Jason Byrne was waiting by the far post, and despatched the ball past Brendan Clarke.

But the Saints struck back just before the break when Pierce Sweeney's attempted clearance of an O'Brien cross only reached Christy Fagan.

The Pats striker somehow found a way through the crowded area with a shot that flashed past Darren Quigley.

Mulroy restored the home lead a quarter of an hour into the second period, shooting on the turn from 20m after the Bray midfield had held on to possession despite determined efforts to deprove them.

But the Saints were not done yet, and a brace inside six minutes sent them ahead for the first time, Fagan doubling his tally when Russell headed on a throw from deep in the corner, and Russell in turn shooting through the defence after a Greg Bolger cross.

And there was drama in time added, when Waters held his nerve to cross for substitute Adam Mitchell, but the latter couldn't reach the ball and it was left to Byrne to head home the equaliser.
