Wanderers take a point in Cork
Match report thanks to www.braywanderers.ie
Bray will count themselves fortunate to have taken a point from the Rebels in Turners Cross, where their record has been poor over the years.
Tadhg Purcell's goal came in the form of a fourth-minute counter-attack as Bray players called for a decision from referee Tom Connolly when Kieran "Marty" Waters was up-ended in the Cork area.
Daryl Horgan fed the resulting clearance on to the waiting Purcell, whose well-judged lob passed Darren Quigley into the Bray net.
And after 70 more minutes of lively attacking football on both sides, Bray equalised with a powerful daisycutter by Jason Byrne, his 182nd career strike.
The remaining quarter hour saw the visitors responding well to a sporadic and ultimately ineffective Cork onslaught, with Waters helped off in the dying minutes after a clash with Ian Turner.

Wanderers slump to 3rd defeat of the season
Match report thanks to www.braywanderers.ie
Bray's poor fortune resumed at the Carlisle Grounds, with Dane Massey the latest of Pat Devlin's squad to suffer an early exit.
Even though the Seagulls responded well to Dean Marshall's startlingly early goal, their plans were knocked back by a head injury to Adam Mitchell in the final minutes of the first half which saw him replaced before the break.
Jason Byrne struck seven minutes into the second period to give the hosts hope, but Drogheda regained the lead ten minutes later following a beautifully timed run by Shane Grimes, who fed Brian Gannon from the left to beat Darren Quigley with a nonchalant poke.
Barely two minutes later, Bray were reduced to ten men following consultation between the officials over an off-the-ball incident involving Massey and Gannon, who had just clashed with Kieran "Marty" Waters.
Midway through the half, substitute Sean Brennan latched on to a long cross-field ball, and faked his way around Quigley to fire into an empty net.
Three minutes later, it was the turn of Drogheda fans' favourite Declan "Fabio" O'Brien, only minutes on the pitch, to fire a low ball that skipped under the Bray keeper.
A Dean Zambra free wide on the left dipped just under the crossbar into Gabriel Sava's net four minutes later, but any hope of salvaging a point would have been misguided, as the visitors turned up the heat in the minutes remaining, and Quigley was the busier of the netminders.

Volkswagen announced as new club sponsor
Volkswagen were today announced as the clubs new main shirt sponsor. The following article is thanks to www.braywanderers.ie.
Today, 16th of March 2012, Bray Wanderers Football Club officially unveiled the
new sponsor Volkswagen and Sinnott Autos in the Carlisle Grounds in what the Director of
Football Pat Devlin has called a fantastic sponsorship deal for the club. The ‘Seagulls’ and
Sinnott Autos dealership, in partnership with Volkswagen, will begin an exciting one year
venture that sees Sinnott Autos as the main shirt sponsor of the club.
One of the country’s leading football clubs, Bray Wanderers has won the FAI Cup twice in
and has represented Ireland in European competitions. 2011 was a very successful year for
Bray Wanderers when they finished in the top six of the Airtricity League and qualified for
the first time in the club’s history for the Setanta Sports Cup. This year will be the club’s 8th
successive season in the Premier Division of the Airtricity League.
Simon Elliott, Group Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Ireland commented on the
sponsorship, saying: “Together with Sinnott Autos, we are thrilled to be sponsoring Bray
Wanderers – it’s a club that stands out to us with a strong and memorable national heritage.
Similar to our Sligo Rovers sponsorship, this is a direction that the Volkswagen Group
has wanted to explore for some time now. We are committed to giving back to local Irish
communities and what better way than to do so than supporting great local clubs such as
Bray Wanderers.”
Paul Sinnott from Sinnotts Autos said, “We are delighted to sponsor our local club Bray
Wanderers and wish them the very best of luck in the current season.”
Pat Devlin, Director of Football at Bray Wanderers commented “We are delighted to be
associated with the Volkswagen Group and Sinnott Autos and are looking forward to a
very good and exciting partnership in the future. Bray Wanderers is an integral part of the
community in Bray and Co. Wicklow and it is a great boost for the club that one of Wicklow’s
best known company’s is now our main sponsor. We are confident that the partnership will
be a very successful one for the club.”

BRAY WANDERERS 0 DERRY CITY 4
Bray lost a second League tie on the trot in a dramatic night at the Carlisle Grounds.
In front of a disappointingly small crowd, given that it was their first home League game of the new season, Wanderers failed to sparkle, and let the visitors make the running.
Derry dominated the opening exchanges, and in a nightmare quarter hour mid-way through the first half the home side conceded two goals from play, lost their first-choice keeper to a mistaken decision and went three down with the ensuing penalty.
Despite an improved performance from the remaining ten Seagulls, there was little they could do to redress the situation, with the visitors playing a long-range version of possession football.
Jason Byrne, Kieran "Marty" Waters and Dean Zambra all had late half-chances to spare Bray's blushes after Rory Patterson took the Candystripes' tally to four.
But Bray's fans had little to be pleased about by the final whistle.

Betting news v Derry City
Well we ran Pats very close last friday but on a sadder note none of Wanderers Weekly's bets came off as we lost. The good news is that the bookies have given shorter odds on a Bray win this week. Here's the lowdown.
- Fancy Bray to win their first home game of the season well then you can get odds of 4/1. Think we can hold Derry to a draw then you can back the draw @ 5/2.
- Think Jayo will open his League account back at the Carlisle Grounds. Well you can back him to score first and Bray to win 1-0 @60/1.
- Will Marty Waters continue his fine form. First goalscorer and 1-0 Bray available @ 80/1.
- Jason Byrne to score anytime is available @ 11/4.
Wanderer's Weekly tip of the week: Jonathan Kelty to score anytime @ 7/2. Not great odds but if the former Arklow man gets the space he can score.

Wanderers Weekly's match day bets
Today is the start of a weekly section on Wanderers Weekly. Each week I will go through all the odds on www.paddypower.com. I'l aim to get the best value for you. I wont be placing money on Bray loses only win's and draws so if you cant see a Wanderers result then keep moving. Here are this week's top tips.
- Fancy the Wanderers to cause an upset in Inchacore against a Pats side who struggled for goals in pre-season against a Wanderers side who shipped none against other LOI side in pre-season and were scoring for fun at time. Why not back the Wanderers to win @ 15/2. Well worth a euro or two.
- Wanderers to be winning at half time and full time @14/1 for anybody brave enough to risk it or 5/1 for draw half time and draw full time.
- Jason Byrne to score first and Bray to win 1-0 can be got at 125/1. Now if that comes in its free money. Also worth a euro or two.
- Fancy Marty Waters to score first and a 1-0 Bray win @ 175/1. Anyone brave enough to up that to 2-0 @ 325/1.
- A draw is available @ 3/1.
Wanderers Weekly Bet of the Week: Jason Byrne to score first and Bray to win 1-0 @ 125/1. If it comes off you owe me one. Although this one isn't for the weak hearted.
